Haunting words from a haunted man. Victor Creel once said these words in one of the most climactic scenes from the fourth season of Netflix’s streaming hit Stranger Things.
And now the infamous Creel murder house can be yours — for $1.5 million.
However, fans of the Netflix series may be surprised to know the Creel House is not located in Hawkins, Indiana. The Victorian home is actually in Rome, Georgia, located in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountains.
The 140-year-old Victorian manor (known by locals as the Claremont House) was built by Colonel Hamilton Yancey. The 6,000 square-foot labyrinthine property contains seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, all under a signature mansard roof. The one-acre estate is also home to a three-bedroom Gothic guest house at the rear of the property.
The former owners have restored the Claremont House to its former Victorian, Second Empire era grandeur. The manor holds massive chandeliers, furniture in the Queen Anne style, and large gilded frames set with the imposing paintings of the original owners. Many of the home’s finer qualities have been preserved including handcrafted built-in bookshelves, cabinetry, original layered moldings, butler’s pantry, and a custom buffet. The home even boasts its own cast iron urinal.
The attic is yet an unfinished third floor, perfect for renovations or a new bedroom.
However, for the more discerning Stranger Things fan, there is one last selling point. The Creel house is less than five miles from the Ford Buildings at Berry College: the location used for Pennhurst Mental Hospital. █
