Octavia Spencer doesn’t want you to bring your ghost around her house.
On a recent segment for The Ellen Degeneres Show Octavia Spencer, best known as the Academy Award-winning actress for movies like The Help and Hidden Figures, revealed she has a ghost.
Spencer recently moved into a modest, 1927 Spanish-style home in Toluca Lake. The home was once believed to be the primary residence of a western movie star. While the actress remains mum about the ghost’s identity, she is still very protective of the spirit itself. “…I think he is my protector, I love him,” confessed Spencer.
Spencer went on to explain why. “He kind of sorts out the bad people that shouldn’t be there. He runs them out. If they stay at my place, they don’t wanna come back. And that’s how I know that they don’t belong here. If you’re a person that belongs there, everybody is like, ‘Oh, your place is so welcoming. It’s so great.’ And that’s how I feel about it.”
While Spencer is at ease with her ghost, she has a warning for any would-be guests. “I love my ghost — I just don’t want you bringing your ghost to my house. I don’t want anybody’s ghost thinking they can be friends with my ghost.”
Spencer went on to specify the kind of special relationship she has with her ghostly star from the other side. “My ghost can haunt me, but he doesn’t haunt me.”
“We have boundaries.” █
