Konami has finally resurrected the beloved psychological horror series of Silent Hill.

On Wednesday, Konami revealed several new additions to the Silent Hill universe at the “Silent Hill Transmission.”  Much of the attention since has been directed at the now confirmed remake of the incredible Silent Hill 2. However, fans are intrigued in the newest entry into the mainline series: Silent Hill f.

The teaser trailer follows a young schoolgirl as she runs and tries to escape a floral encroachment into her world. The flowers, known as higanbana in Japanese, or The Red Spider Lily, eventually overtake her and end with her floating through a sea of arms and legs until a single tear falls down her face, and then, her face too falls off completely.

Little else is known about the newest entry into the series except that Konami revealed it takes place in Japan in the 1960s “featuring a beautiful and horrifying world.”  The game’s story is being written by Ryukishi07, a Japanese manga creator who is known for their psychological horror with titles like the When They Cry series.

No release date has been announced yet, but this is a promising new development in a series that many fans had feared would never return.
