The Walking Dead is nearing the end. Though only a third of the long-running AMC series’ final season has aired, final production is much further along. There are only three episodes left to shoot of the mega-sized, 24-part final eleventh season of the post-apocalyptic zombie series. Afterward, AMC’s flagship series TWD will officially be over. However, many of the franchise’s other offerings continue to walk the earth, with the promise of even more spinoffs.
Director of photography Duane Charles Manwiller shared a gorgeous black-and-white between-the-scenes shot of Khary Payton’s Ezekiel over the weekend on his Instagram page. In the comments, Manwiller dropped a bombshell: “We only have THREE left to film and the season will be complete.”

Other Walking Dead-inspired shows in development include Tales of The Walking Dead, an anthology series set to air in summer 2022. Isle of the Dead, a sequel that will follow TWD alumni Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and the villainous Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Last but not least, is the untitled TWD project which will follow the adventures of show favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride).
The Walking Dead continues its eleventh and final season on February 20 on AMC. █
